Northrop Grumman Space Sector has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Technician 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California. Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications. Successful candidates will have extensive knowledge of diverse assembly techniques, knowledge of structural bonding techniques, including bonding/drilling of composite and metallic assemblies. Ability to read engineering drawings and application of processes, procedures, and documents relative to hardware commonly found in the aerospace industry. Candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of Geometric Positioning and Tolerancing usage and application. Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical components, assemblies, and systems as well as set up and test complete prototype or flight units and subassemblies under operational conditions. This position will be supporting 1st shift. Individual must be able to demonstrate to Quality Assurance that work performed meets engineering drawing requirements. Works with chemicals. This position may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work any shift and extended work weeks. US Citizenship required
