About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Technician – Level 2 or Level 3 to join their collaborative teams in Redondo Beach, CA. This role is crucial for missions of paramount importance, involving the development, assembly, and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. The technician will devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies, participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodology, and assist with setting up and testing complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.

Requirements

  • Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
  • Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in manufacturing operations and procedures as it pertains to mechanical assembly, harnessing with a high attention to detail
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Basic Qualifications for Level 2: High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Basic Qualifications for Level 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • AA degree or other two-year technical degree
  • Familiar with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to supplement work order and other data requirements
  • Comprehension with reading drawings, process specification, and work order instructions
  • Experience working in clean room environments
  • Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Participates in the development of sub-system and system test methodology.
  • Assists with setting up and tests complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.
