About The Position

The Mechanical Technician II position involves assembly and cleaning of spaceflight hardware and ground support equipment to meet required specifications. In this intermediate role, you will work closely with engineers and senior technicians to ensure the quality and reliability of our products. This position requires a solid understanding of mechanical principles, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to precision and safety. You will use precision equipment and extensive training to meet the exacting specifications necessary for our products to work as intended in extreme environments.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
  • Experience with hand tools and precision equipment.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of cleanliness and ESD control practices.
  • Proficient understanding of one or more of the following: mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
  • Typically, 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
  • U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: IPC, J-STD, welding.
  • A&P License.
  • Experience precision cleaning.
  • Experience interpreting GD&T on drawings.
  • Experience with machining or additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical systems, carefully following work instructions.
  • Clean and certify hardware to exacting standards in a cleanroom environment.
  • Stop and escalate potential quality and safety issues.
  • Adhere to general shop requirements, including PPE and shop safety requirements, hardware and facility cleanliness, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control protocols.
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Collaborate with and learn from team members to achieve production goals.
