The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT REPRESENTED POSITION

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area and three years related experience.
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.
  • Must have proven troubleshooting ability, using a systematic approach in the repair of mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, water, HVAC, pneumatic, or lubrication systems.
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, towers, and stairs to work at heights (>300 feet) using protective equipment.
  • Must work well in a team environment and interface well with the client.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Experience with pneumatics, compressed gases, and pressure vessel systems is highly desired.
  • Must possess or can obtain a Class D motor vehicle license.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • HVAC and water systems.
  • Lubrication and fluid distribution systems.
  • Preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery relevant to assigned systems.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, findings, and r-epairs using written reports and digital systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, leads, and other departments to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces with PPE.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders to access work stations.
