About The Position

The Mechanical Systems Engineer will be responsible for the technical specifications, bid verification, and negotiations for various auxiliary mechanical systems of a gas turbine. This role requires a strong understanding of systems such as air intake, acoustic enclosures, ventilation, and fire protection. The engineer will collaborate with a global team, handle cross-functional initiatives, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. The position involves supporting procurement, reviewing designs, attending inspections, and providing field support during installation and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 6+ years related technical experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of auxiliary mechanical systems of a gas turbine, such as air intake, acoustic enclosure, ventilation, fire protection.
  • Capability to handle cross-functional and cross-product line initiatives, domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work as part of a larger global engineering team in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form and to interface within a wide range of organizations both internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of technical specifications, verification of supplier bids with clarifications, technical supplier negotiations including risk assessment and commercial selection support for Air Intake system, Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers, Noise Enclosures, and Fire Protection system.
  • Reviewing internal and external designs and documentation.
  • Support procurement department regarding technical issues.
  • Coordination with Lead Engineer, Procurement, Suppliers, other Engineering departments, and Project Management.
  • Ensuring alignment of the supplier's solution with requirements specification, customer needs, and interface partners.
  • Attend manufacturing shop inspections, perform field/site support during installation, commissioning and warranty.
  • Proposal support for Bid Management team.
