About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX, with full relocation provided. We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily maintenance operations supporting satellite manufacturing equipment and production systems. This role is responsible for supervising technicians, ensuring equipment uptime, and driving preventive and predictive maintenance programs across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systems. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting high-volume aerospace production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Technical degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and control systems
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians across shifts
  • Assign work, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities
  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel
  • Enforce safety, quality, and compliance standards
  • Oversee maintenance of production equipment, assembly tooling, and electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ensure rapid response to equipment failures and minimize downtime
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives (VFDs), sensors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Manage and execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs
  • Drive predictive maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are documented in CMMS systems
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability
  • Track KPIs: Equipment uptime, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
  • Partner with engineering and production to improve system performance
  • Ensure accurate documentation of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance logs
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, internal procedures, and aerospace manufacturing requirements
  • Work closely with production teams, engineering, and quality
  • Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and validation
