About The Position

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities in one or more of the following skilled trades: HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, or mechanical. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing building HVAC, plumbing, BAS, and mechanical systems
  • Experience using and managing work assignments and workflow using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • A valid driver license is required

Nice To Haves

  • The formal education equivalent of an Associate/Vo-Tech /Trade Degree
  • A Class B HVACR license in the state of AR; or equivalent license from another state or authority having jurisdiction
  • Boiler license preferred or the ability to obtain a boiler operator license within 1-year of hire
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a medium to large-sized staff of skilled and semi-skilled HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical workers by interviewing, submitting recommendations for hiring, handling employee-related problems and disciplinary matters, and evaluating the performance of incumbents.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules for HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanics.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds to determine needed maintenance.
  • Monitor jobs in progress and inspect completed projects for compliance to acceptable standards.
  • Direct the installation, repair, and regular service of pumps, piping, valves, and actuators.
  • Lead safety meeting and ensure staff follows all safety protocols.
  • Handle complaints received from building areas, such as room temperature controls, equipment breakdown, and unsafe facilities.
  • Maintain and compile information, such as inventory of equipment and supplies, job status reports, and budget documentation.
  • Attend staff meetings with departmental personnel and make recommendations on new policies and/or procedures.
  • Write annual performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
