About The Position

The Mechanical Superintendent will plan and supervise work activities, determining methods of construction, safety procedures, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedules. This role oversees the precision of rotating and static equipment, coordinates assigned work with various crafts, company departments, and contractors, and maintains liaison with safety, engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure compliance with safety policies, drawings, specifications, and schedules. The superintendent will also assist in resolving construction and safety issues, conduct accident investigations, and monitor craft compliance with the project safety program, ensuring corrective measures are implemented. Additionally, they will maintain communication with HR for manpower needs and liaise with other departments like Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to support craft activities and project schedules. Field safety audits and a thorough understanding of the Corporate Safety Manual are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures
  • 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control
  • Ability to supervise large groups
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

  • Plans and supervises work activities.
  • Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
  • Oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment.
  • Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
  • Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
  • Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
