About The Position

Mechanical Specialist to support all manufacturing areas by repairing, troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on all plant and processing related equipment and systems. Report to Maintenance Supervisor; partner with hourly and salaried maintenance/production teams to restore uptime and improve reliability. Troubleshoot major equipment failures quickly and accurately; diagnose root cause and complete corrective repairs. Execute scheduled PM/PdM work; document completion and findings. Recommend and implement reliability/productivity improvements based on system performance reviews and equipment history. Perform mechanical work traditionally covered by millwright and pipe shop functions; assist packaging areas as needed. Fabricate, install, maintain, and repair equipment from prints/layouts; modify/install production lines per engineering direction. Perform rigging, handling, alignment, and shop layout work; use standard millwright practices and tools. Install/maintain pumps (including large units requiring rigging/alignment); service process/fluid pumps (packing, glands, couplings, minor field repairs; replace up to 3-inch units). Maintain facility/building components and supporting equipment (doors, floors, loading/unloading, elevators, man lifts/hoists, air compressors). Install, maintain, and repair plant piping systems (steam, water, air, hydraulic, product, drains, valves/filters/coils); apply pipefitting theory and perform required calculations. Operate hand/power tools (threaders, saws, drill presses, sewer cleaners, etc.); perform hydrostatic/pressure testing as required. Maintain adequate spare parts stocking levels for supported equipment. Prepare required reports/records; use CMMS (SAP) for work orders and PM documentation. Participate in ongoing technical training and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic Math & Literacy: Proficient in reading and basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Basic computer proficiency, including typing/keyboarding skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, time management, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with project engineers on technical objectives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance principles for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and repair complex machinery and system breakdowns.
  • Committed to improving plant efficiency through proactive troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience performing scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance; able to manage spare parts inventory to support all equipment.
  • Self-motivated professional willing to participate in intensive technical training and cross-functional skill development.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Constant bending and twisting; Able to reach above shoulders.
  • Able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally.
  • Must have good verbal communication and basic mathematical skills.
  • Self-motivated and strong drive for results.
  • Able to become certified to operate a lift truck.
  • Must possess appropriate tools and toolbox.
  • Able to work in hot/humid conditions as well as areas that may contain dust/starch particles and egg.
  • Able to pass their FIT test.
