About The Position

The successful candidate will join the Facility Operations Directorate to safely, effectively, and efficiently support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract, (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed. Ensuring personal safety of coworkers and customers is a primary duty for all Amentum Tidewater Operations (ATOD) employees.

Requirements

  • U. S. Citizenship required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years college or vocational training in area of specialty plus fourteen (14) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of sixteen (16) years.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability and good communication skills are required.
  • Valid Real ID compliant identification – www.dhs.gov/real-id
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
  • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.
  • Must be able to balance scope, schedule, and budget to ensure program success.
  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed.
  • Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.

Responsibilities

  • Work includes, but not limited to: performing technical, mechanical, electrical work at a research and/or supporting infrastructure operations facilities
  • perform panel/automation operations associated with facility systems/testing
  • Operate, monitor, and service the system or equipment during operations
  • detect unsafe condition or incorrect action
  • ascertain and determine step-by-step procedures for operating a system/component and recover or safely bring the system or equipment to an off-line state
  • write or modify maintenance/inspection procedures and schematics
  • operate and maintain industrial equipment/systems such as pumps, compressors, steam ejector, high pressure air, and hydraulics systems
  • operate air and temperature control systems for various facilities
  • evaluate, prepare, and perform lockout/tag out procedures on energized mechanical systems
  • perform pre-, operational, and post-operational activities for research facilities
  • obtain and maintain certification on facility systems
  • use a wide variety of hand and machine tools, and power equipment
  • Review procedures, work instructions, blueprints, and other technical documents to troubleshoot, identify failures and repair solution for systems not meeting its design specifications.
