About The Position

Eaton’s Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Mechanical Solderer within its Actuation IPT. This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility. Utilizes knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform mechanical soldering and other manufacturing processes. Maintains standards of quality, production, and safety; complies with all company policies and works as part of a team to ensure that daily goals are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience or Minimum 2 years in Aerospace manufacturing
  • 1-3 years of previous soldering experience under a microscope for hours at a time
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Ability to communicate effectively, manage time and adapt to various work environments.
  • Ability to train other technicians
  • Ability to communicate effectively, sharp attention to detail, manage time and adapt to various work environments. Demonstrate problem solving, analytical thinking, and displaying ambition, consistency, reliability, and the ability to receive constructive criticism
  • Great communication skills and experience working in a team environment. Possesses attention to detail, problem solving ability, and willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Technology
  • Minimum 3 years of Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • J-STD Electrical soldering Certified for 2+ years
  • 1-3 years of mechanical soldering experience
  • Basic understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, Cellular Manufacturing, One Piece Flow, and Continuous Improvement concepts

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying improvement opportunities for Environmental, Health, and Safety
  • Obtain and maintain Certified Operator Status including job specific training/certifications and ERP system data entry in accordance with site guidelines
  • Assist certified trainers with basic training of technicians up to and including current grade.
  • Possesses knowledge/experience of mechanical soldering requirements, equipment to evaluate mechanical systems, use of specialized mechanical soldering tools/measuring equipment. Shares knowledge and guide technicians of lower and current level.
  • Independently perform moderate and begins high complexity assembly and test operations following written instructions.
  • Understands product quality requirements and follows non-conforming material processes. Reports findings to team and generates non-conforming hardware documentation.
  • Supports Team/Engineering with inspection and rework
  • Identify and communicate potential WI discrepancies/updates
  • Working experience with pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems and able to troubleshoot complex issues without supervision.
  • Identify and communicate troubleshooting instructions/process aid opportunities
  • Verify/Monitor the departments calibrated equipment, material with expiration dates and written instructions for use in daily production.
  • Properly document and maintain traceability of numerous components to ensure assembly accuracy.
  • Capable of performing material transactions and inventory inquiries
  • Identify improvement opportunities, resulting in a decrease of lead time, cost savings, elimination of waste, or safety improvement
