About The Position

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement, and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance, and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea, and aircraft; automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment. Mini-Circuits sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, and sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website. The Solder Assembler is responsible for assembling, soldering, and inspecting PCB test boards and SMT hardware to meet quality standards. This role includes hand soldering, component placement, and rework using standard tools and microscopes, while following work instructions and supporting both development and production activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on assembly experience, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and small mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to interpret and follow electronic work instructions, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Able to sit and perform detailed bench work for extended periods of time.
  • Skilled in working under a microscope to perform precision assembly tasks.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment, including engineers, technicians, assemblers, designers, and manufacturing process engineers (MPEs).
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid development and production environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement of assembly skills and works closely with team members to enhance performance.
  • Able to work in a Class 100,000 cleanroom environment while following required protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to learn die attach processes, including the application of electrically conductive epoxies using both manual techniques and automated dispensing equipment.
  • Willing to learn wire bonding processes using various wire and ribbon sizes, including both ball and wedge bonding techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Performs precision soldering of small components, including micro-soldering down to 01005 (10 × 5 mil) component size.
  • Completes small-scale mechanical assembly, including handling and fitting of metal components.
  • Executes delicate rework and repair tasks while minimizing risk of damage to surrounding components.
  • Performs self-inspection to ensure work meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Assists in troubleshooting assemblies through visual inspection and basic fault identification.
  • Reads and interprets assembly drawings; provides feedback and markup suggestions for improvements or design changes as needed.
  • May support chip and wire assembly processes as required.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and contributes to overall lab cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to abide by Company’s Code of Conduct.
