About The Position

The Mechanical Reliability Senior Principal Engineer will be a vital member of a cross-functional engineering team delivering advanced solutions for AI, HPC, and enterprise server markets. The role focuses on ensuring exceptional reliability while collaborating on design tradeoffs that optimize time-to-market, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability. The position is part of Dell Technologies’ Mechanical Engineering team in Round Rock, Texas.

Requirements

• 12 or more years of related experience or equivalent skill.
• Demonstrated expertise in a hardware reliability discipline, such as electromechanical assemblies, data storage devices, air movers, direct contact liquid cooling cold plates, manifolds, coolant distribution units, power supplies, or similar.
• Strong analytical experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, for example in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
• Electrical Engineering credentials.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative concepts and establish feasibility.
• Apply a Design For (DFx) mindset to identify and mitigate potential reliability issues.
• Conduct reliability analyses to identify potential failure modes and their impact.
• Develop and execute validation protocols, including accelerated life, environmental, and stress testing.
• Perform root cause analysis and work with engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
