Make mechanical repairs on plant and quarry equipment, install new or replacement equipment. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant and quarry equipment. Remove and replace defective parts or components. Operate welding equipment necessary to repair equipment. Perform operational checks of equipment after repairs are made. Use blueprints, manuals and other directions needed to troubleshoot and correct reported discrepancies. Ensure that work orders and other paperwork are completed and filed. Requisition parts and supplies, as needed. Must work in high places and under adverse conditions. Work in conjunction with cranes. Will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of assigned area, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios. Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/Tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials. Ensure quality of work performed, participate in continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure. Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • Three to five years of cement plant knowledge
  • Trade school or vo-tech with emphasis on welding, hydraulics and general maintenance procedures
  • Thoroughly familiar with plant layout and equipment
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • High School education or equivalent basic mathematical skills
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting
  • High degree of manual dexterity and coordination
  • Good eye/hand coordination
