Role Overview: Performs cleaning, general maintenance, and minor repairs to building(s), equipment and grounds at the National Guard Armory located in Warsaw, Indiana. You will be responsible for the entire facility and grounds excluding those areas of military responsibility such as: kitchens (except when included in a rental agreement), OMS areas, military supply rooms, vehicle compounds, POL building and other like areas. You will provide daily maintenance task, to include: cleaning, minor repairs with electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Maintain the outside of the facility to include mowing, weed eating, landscaping. Inform superviser of any issues found in or arouond the facility. Work with Armory personnel for any needs they have to better the facility. Always strive to maintain a facilty that is inviting to the public. A CDL is not required.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of, and ability to use skills in, carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and to handle simple mathematical problems per the mentioned duties above.
  • Ability to determine malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment and make simple repairs.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics.
  • Ability to set tile, finish concrete and plaster and to do tuck pointing.
  • Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning, general maintenance, and minor repairs to building(s), equipment and grounds at the National Guard Armory located in Warsaw, Indiana.
  • Responsible for the entire facility and grounds excluding those areas of military responsibility such as: kitchens (except when included in a rental agreement), OMS areas, military supply rooms, vehicle compounds, POL building and other like areas.
  • Provide daily maintenance task, to include: cleaning, minor repairs with electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Maintain the outside of the facility to include mowing, weed eating, landscaping.

  • Make routine carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Check heating, air conditioning, kitchen, laundry, and maintenance equipment for efficiency and make necessary repairs.
  • Install curtain rods, toilet paper and toothbrush holders, tile, screens, window glass, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures, and other varied items.
  • Check and repair electrical appliances, motors, pumps, fire alarm systems, thermostats, doorbells, and buzzers.
  • Repair locks, make keys and provide secure facility and property.
  • Assist a skilled trades person on major projects.
  • Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
