About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Mechanical Repair Technician III (Avionics) to join their team in Wilson, NC. This role is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing units, ensuring high quality, timely work, and compliance with all company and federal regulations. This is a 1st shift position, Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with potential for overtime. The position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines and will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience in electronics, within a manufacturing or service environment.
U.S. Person status required (lawful permanent resident or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Nice To Haves

AAS degree in Electronics
Prior military experience
Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers including triggering, waveform capture and comparisons.
Knowledge of electronic theory including microprocessor-based products.
Ability to give direction and guidance in electronic troubleshooting techniques and repair.
Ability to interpret schematics and/or technical drawings.
Intermediate computer skills in terms of typing, navigating screens and learning new software programs.

Responsibilities

Test products for load capabilities, mechanical characteristics, polarity, voltage, amperage, inductance, shorts, grounds, circuits continuity and physical properties.
Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits, including troubleshooting to the component level.
Perform routine repair activities on avionics equipment including surface mount and thru hole solder repair.
Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Comply with all rules and regulations of Collins Aerospace, including Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance and Human Resources.
Complete assigned tasks within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department goals and objectives.
Check work methods and results for conformance to standards.
Report on leader or supervisor on work progress and updates including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards.
Manage all aspects related to the process of repairs through the service center including receiving, inspection, cleaning, tear-down, documentation, repair, reassembly and packaging of parts for return to the customer.
Comply with EH&S policies and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate PPE.
Attend EH&S trainings as required.
Report unsafe practices and/or conditions to the appropriate individuals to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
