About The Position
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager – Data Center Construction with Field Experience to support a high-profile data center construction project. This role involves overseeing the General Contractor’s construction activities, with a primary focus on reporting schedule status to the project owner. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise gained from field experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a background in large-scale data center/mission critical works or electrical contracting environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of electrical project management experience, ideally in data center construction or with an electrical contractor.
- Familiarity with MEP design.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
- Proficiency in the Data Center Commissioning Process (levels 1 –5).
- Proficiency managing construction documents including BODs, specifications, contract drawings, C/D/E’s, equipment submittals and RFIs.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Procore, P6, CxAlloy, and other construction project management tools.

- Experience with substation and power distribution systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage and collaborate with project stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication across our internal team for efficiency and consistent client delivery.
- Analyze, track, and manage critical milestone activities to prevent schedule slippage.
- Verify the utilization of effective project governance, processes, and systems.
- Ensure the application of best practices on all projects.
- Produce formal project status reports and other required reports.
- Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure correct application of approved design standards.
- Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
- Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications.
- Forecast and update key project milestones.
- Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria.
- Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors, and regional stakeholders.
- Respond rapidly to RFIs from the field.
- Provide expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance.
- Independently review status reports, drawing submittals, timelines, and costs from architects, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in client management and developing excellent working relationships with Clients to maximize new opportunities.
- Provide advice to project teams on approaches to achieve both client and business objectives.
- Ensure key information and learnings from each project are captured.
- Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes.
- Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
