About The Position

The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical installation projects from initiation through completion. This is a highly hands-on role, with approximately 90% of time spent working in the field and traveling to job sites. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable standards and client requirements. The Project Manager serves as a central point of coordination between internal teams, fabrication/shop operations, field leadership, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical field installations or industrial construction.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, rigging, and structural components.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with crane operations, hoisting plans, and heavy equipment coordination.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes and shop coordination.
  • Proficiency in project management software and field reporting tools.
  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel to job sites as needed (75-100% travel expected).

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred, will provide OSHA certification if not already obtained; additional safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets for mechanical construction projects.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively manage risks, costs, and schedule impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, mechanical codes, and contract specifications.
  • Provide direction and oversight to foremen.
  • Support field leadership with resource planning and issue resolution.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure job sites adhere to company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with shop/fabrication teams to align production schedules with field installation needs.
  • Communicate project status, changes, and challenges clearly to management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, budgets, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Manage change orders and ensure proper documentation, pricing, and approvals.
  • Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and process improvements.
