About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer in Greenwood Village, CO, to lead design efforts with commercial interiors for low to moderate complexity projects and support larger, high-complexity work with senior staff. This role focuses on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry, within the commercial interiors market. You will support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality reviews, client coordination, and mentoring while working with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Aligned with a team active in commercial-focused MEP work, repeat tenant improvement programs, and broader mixed-use efforts, this role helps advance high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry with previous experience in the commercial interiors market sector
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, IES or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck.

  • Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revue
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in support of commercial interiors and tenant improvement projects.
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of mechanical systems, creating designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Partner with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Support the execution of consulting projects while leading project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and client instructions, and monitor design progress related to percent complete and fee expended.
  • Analyze engineering problems and develop practical and efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants.
  • Perform in-process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs, calculations, and specifications.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and mechanical engineering best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Identify potential project problems, seek advice from the Project Manager, and oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase.
