About The Position

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Greenwood Village, CO to lead design efforts with commercial interiors for low to moderate complexity projects and support larger, high-complexity work with senior staff. This role focuses on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for the vertical building industry, within the commercial interiors market. You will support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality reviews, client coordination, and mentoring while working with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Aligned with a team active in commercial-focused MEP work, repeat tenant improvement programs, and broader mixed-use efforts, this role helps advance high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 2 years of experience minimum, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry with previous experience in the commercial interiors market sector
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck.
  • Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, and/or MadCAD
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
  • Knowledge of Revit BIM software, CTC Revit Add In Tools and other smart tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical and lighting systems in support of commercial interiors and tenant improvement projects.
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, creating designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication.
  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress, percent complete, and fee expended.
  • Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system designs, calculations, and specifications, and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet quality, industry, and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase.
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
