About The Position

Daifuku Airport America Corporation is a subsidiary of Daifuku North America, a group company of Daifuku in Japan, which is the largest material handling company in the world. Our advanced systems move everything from car bodies at auto plants to luggage at airports to packaged goods at warehouses. We are known as experts in engineering, manufacturing, and servicing innovative automated materials handling systems including conveyors, automatic guided vehicles, automated storage & retrieval systems, and integrated controls. The company is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer.

Requirements

  • BSME, BSCE, CSIE or equivalent technical degree and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in lead design & estimating of industrial equipment in one or more of the following fields: robotics, automation, unit handling, chain conveyor systems, electrified monorails, design or castings & forgings & manufacturing fabrication processes.
  • Strong communication skills for customer/ supplier contact.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience handling multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of & experience using CAE equipment.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Adobe Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the mechanical portion of the assigned project, including resources, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Leads a group of three (3) to ten (10) mechanical engineers responsible for producing mechanical layout drawings and mechanical equipment designs.
  • Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, and installation.
  • Supervises three (3) to ten (10) Mechanical Engineers.
  • Plans and conducts engineering projects.
  • Acts as a liaison between other departments, divisions, companies, and customers.
  • Works to achieve overall objectives at a minimum cost.
  • Estimates number of employees needed and schedules work to meet completion date and technical specifications.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Documents changes to scope of work.
  • Ensures that contract documents & specifications are followed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Assists sales in generating new projects including estimating new project work.
