About The Position

The Mechanical Project Engineer leads and manages both capital and smaller-scale projects within a heavy manufacturing environment, applying mechanical engineering expertise to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role drives project execution — from initial scoping and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. The Mechanical Project Engineer partners closely with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams to define project goals, communicate progress, manage resources, and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Prior leadership experience managing contractors and/or cross-functional teams
  • Experience with capital project appropriation processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Drive project execution from initial scoping and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Partner closely with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams to define project goals, communicate progress, manage resources, and resolve issues.
  • Work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
