About The Position

The Mechanical Project Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing) role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and coordinating the design and implementation of capital and expense improvement projects. This involves working with manufacturing teams, engineering personnel, R&D representatives, and other technical resources to complete projects. The role handles the organizational and administrative aspects of project implementation within the plant and is directly accountable for adhering to the plant's capital budget. Project drivers typically include turnaround time, capacity improvements, reliability, mechanical inspections, process safety, and general plant health and safety initiatives. The mechanical projects engineer often participates in safety and process safety activities such as Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Changes (MOCs), Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews, and Mechanical Integrity (MI) programs. They also support the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) process through observations and adherence to Loss Control policies, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and other management systems. This is an onsite role in Bristol, PA.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited program
5+ years of experience in chemical industry environment required.
Prior engineering experience (e.g. improvement, maintenance, mechanical reliability, projects) required.
Self-motivated, capable decision-maker that can effectively influence others
Project management skills - Stage Gate Project Development process preferred
Knowledge of Process Safety – Mechanical Integrity, LPPs, Layers of Project, etc. is a plus
Mechanical engineering within chemical industry background preferred
Capital Project Management experience
Ability to learn and use SAP programs and reports.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability and skill to understand and troubleshoot unit operations and define improvement to meet safety, reliability and production goals.
Ability to work well with multiple levels (floor level, plant management and corporate) of the organization

Responsibilities

Fulfill the role of project manager for plant capital and expense projects to meet the yearly budget commitments following the Global Project Methodology.
Supervise and support project managers designee.
Fill the role of mechanical engineering.
Prepare and present expense reports and budget forecast plans.
Identify, evaluate, and define improvement opportunities directed to increase the mechanical reliability of the manufacturing equipment and other equipment related with plant infrastructure/operations.
Manage the mechanical integrity (MI) inspection program.
Prepare and implement the yearly MI inspection schedule.
Implement the remediations recommended on MI reports through capex or expense projects.
Create and update MI related documents based on Trinseo practices.
Support the safety programs and initiatives directed by HE&S department.
