About The Position

The Mechanical Power Conversion facility in Rockford, IL, is our Center of Excellence for developing & producing gearboxes, fuel pumps, air turbine starters, and other turbine products. We are seeking student engineers for our gearbox & turbine product lines to assist in managing the cross-functional team for the full product lifecycle, cradle to grave. Teams are comprised of engineers and business leaders working in an agile environment focused on the design, development, production, and support of mechanical products for jet engines and rotorcraft. Team culture is extremely collaborative and engaged; we value our customer, our products, and our people (that means you). Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Industrial Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the co-op.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Experience with creating Visual Basic macros in Microsoft Office products

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage assigned projects through milestones within program schedule and budget to optimize profit and meet growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas inside and outside the organization as required to deliver program results and be responsive to internal and external customer needs.
  • Maintain project files and supply necessary documentation to update or complete a project. This documentation may include, but is not restricted to, status reports, investigations, schedules, work requests and others communicated to Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Manufacturing, Finance and Quality Assurance.
  • Develop tools to increase the effectiveness of the Value Stream Program Management Team (PMT).
  • Significant problem solving events shall be noted and reported on at the end of term.
