About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to join their global data center engineering team. This role is responsible for the design and continuous innovation within AWS's rapidly expanding data center footprint. The engineer will focus on the design and development of liquid cooling products and supporting infrastructure, collaborating with various internal and external teams. The position emphasizes driving continuous advancements, improving reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of engineering designs, and making a substantial impact on the systems customers rely on. This role can be based in Seattle, Washington, Columbus, Ohio, or Herndon, Virginia.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 4+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Responsibilities

  • Define and design liquid cooling equipment and related infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions.
  • Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products.
  • Maintain and develop technical design procedures associated with piping and pipe support analysis activities.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management and partner teams.
  • Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
  • Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating ownership.
  • Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical and associated sub components.
  • Provide product design support to other team members.
  • Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestic and internationally for up to 25% of the year.
