About The Position

Inside the Role The Product Engineering Frameworks Team at DTNA is at the heart of vehicle development. Current development projects include internal combustion, electric, as well as other emerging propulsion systems within MD/HD/EV vehicle platforms. The Low Voltage Integration team is responsible for the integration of Low Voltage Power Network components into the vehicle. In this role, you will be a key contributor and an empowered leader in the Low Voltage Integration team. You will be responsible for the technical development of multiple vehicle-level projects, quality improvements, and cost saving initiatives. The scope of this role includes the development of low voltage battery enclosures and vehicle packaging, power cable design and routing strategy, and power cable mounting bracketry design. This role is highly collaborative, and you will be working closely with cross functional teams in Mechatronics, Product Validation, Manufacturing, Service, and Quality. By leading this collaborative effort, we ensure the design of the Low Voltage system meets the requirements of all departments.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 5-7 years of experience.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in job field and working knowledge of related disciplines
  • Leads internal and external resources in vehicle level Packaging/Mounting/Routing deliverables.
  • Uses analytical thought to independently solve complex problems with minimal guidance and identify solutions
  • Leads team or department projects or work streams within broader projects
  • Acts as an advisor to management and key external stakeholders on job field related projects
  • Acts as a resource and guide for colleagues with less experience
  • Uses experience to contribute to standards in which others will operate
  • CAD experience - part design and drawings.
  • Experience identifying and solving root cause of complex problems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated strategic foresight, ability to anticipate questions and next steps.
  • Proven follow-through and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to motivate self and others with collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electrical systems related to diesel, autonomous, and electric vehicles.
  • Sheet metal, extrusions, castings, and cabling design experience.
  • Experience with Design Validation Planning & Reporting (DVP&R).
  • FEA, CFD, and DFMEA knowledge.
  • Experience in new product development and project management.
  • Experience with problem solving resolution skills (Shainin RedX, Six Sigma, 8D or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Implement short and long-term strategies to improve team efficiency.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentation material for executive audiences.
  • Provide creative, technically feasible designs that satisfy customer needs while adhering to engineering standards and strategic direction.
  • Utilize systems engineering approach to optimize vehicle performance, quality, and cost.
  • Work closely with mechatronics engineering to understand low voltage power network component design and packaging requirements.
  • Support Product Strategy, Product Validation, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Sales organizations with their respective engineering inputs and guidance.
  • Collaborate with our local/global team members including teams across local, regional and global departments.
  • Utilize CAD and other design tools to create and maintain designs, drawings, installations and packaging studies.
  • Develop, release, and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
  • Be a strong voice for Product Engineering on major programs.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and inclusive culture within engineering.
