About The Position

Contribute to the development of vehicle interior systems and components, including door and pillar trim, sleeper bunks, storage and console solutions, upholstery, floor coverings, and floor-mounted accessories. Responsibilities span the entire product development process, from concept creation and CAD design to component and vehicle-level documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related technical field, AND two+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR six years of relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree
Experience applying mechanical engineering principles to the design, development, testing, or improvement of mechanical products, components, assemblies, or systems
Experience creating or modifying engineering designs, specifications, drawings, models, or prototypes
Experience supporting product development activities including testing, validation, troubleshooting, fabrication, or assembly

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of DTNA Engineering Documentation procedures
Experience supporting prototype development, testing, validation, and production implementation
Experience using CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar engineering design tools (preferred experience with injection molded plastic components)
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, industrial design, product management, marketing, quality, or suppliers
Experience balancing technical performance requirements with cost, manufacturability, reliability, and production efficiency objectives

Responsibilities

Designs and develops mechanical products, components, or systems including applying mechanical engineering principles to develop products, components, and systems that involve movement (e.g., engines, vehicles, robots, prosthetic devices, energy conversion systems, machinery, etc.)
Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies
Collaborates with marketing and industrial design teams to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements
May also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment
