About The Position

Linde Advanced Material Technologies Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Process Engineer in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves owning the research and development powder processing equipment area, serving as the primary technical resource for equipment operation, process development, technology implementation, and continuous improvement. The engineer will partner with Materials Engineers to develop, optimize, and document powder manufacturing processes, establish process routes and operating parameters for new and existing materials, and design and execute process development trials to evaluate equipment capabilities, improve process performance, and achieve targeted powder characteristics and throughput. The position also supports the transition of laboratory and pilot-scale powder processes into robust, repeatable manufacturing methods, and involves developing and maintaining process documentation such as SOPs, JSAs, work instructions, and process standards. The role includes leading the installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup of new powder processing equipment and supporting technologies, troubleshooting mechanical, operational, and process-related issues using structured problem-solving techniques, and collaborating with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to specify, design, modify, and optimize powder processing systems. Additionally, the engineer will train and support operators and technicians, and identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or other related Engineering or Engineering Technology field required.
  • 5 – 7 years of experience working in a manufacturing or industrial process environment required.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Experience with hands-on troubleshooting and installing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, 3D CAD (SolidWorks), and AutoCAD.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen Bradley operating systems (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge or ladder logic troubleshooting and programming.
  • Previous experience managing capital projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, operational, and process-related issues, applying structured problem-solving techniques to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to specify, design, modify, and optimize powder processing systems.
  • Train and support operators and technicians on equipment operation, process fundamentals, troubleshooting methods, and safe work practices.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve process consistency, equipment performance, operational efficiency, and product quality.
