About The Position

SSOE is looking for a Junior Process Engineer to support local clients and virtually support project teams in other locations. This individual will work on projects from inception through construction, developing PFD’s, P&ID’s, process calculations, equipment selection and specifications in the early phases of projects and continue to provide support through construction and commissioning. Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice.
  • 4+ years of working experience required.
  • Ability to work in a client-facing role while partnering with contractors and vendors.
  • Experience with building codes, GMP requirements, and focus on food safe / sanitary design.
  • Experience with utility system equipment and distribution systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to food, beverage GMP plants and other related industrial settings strongly preferred.
  • Experience with simulations softwares like ASPEN or CHEMCAD a Plus.
  • Experience using Pipe Flo or AFT Fathom a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting engineering studies, write reports, develop and complete engineering calculations.
  • Perform or assist with the development of PFDs and P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and procurement.
  • Support development of engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to complete necessary project tasks.
  • Support the design and specification of clean-in-place (CIP), general and clean-out -of-place (COP) sanitation.
  • Participate in process-layout reviews to evaluate sanitary routing, equipment access, cleanability, cross-contamination risk, allergen segregation, utility distribution, drainage, and constructability.
  • Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, equipment information, and field installation work for conformance with project requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of bid packages.
  • Perform field work (travel up to 30%) in operating facilities, including existing-condition verification, site surveys, equipment inspection, tie-in identification, and construction/start-up support.
