Headquartered in Lancaster, PA, our facilities employ nearly 300 people from our community. Every product that leaves our factory has been designed, engineered, and produced for exclusive use in North America. U.S. Boiler Company is a subsidiary of Burnham Holdings, Inc. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! This is locally based position in Lancaster, PA that requires employees to be on site full-time. Please note this position does not offer or include any relocation package. This position will support, specify, and control the processes that the manufacturing operation relies on daily to satisfy customer demand and obtain the performance objectives set forth pertaining to: 1) Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost/Value, and 2) the continuous improvement program. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial engineering and/or processing engineering, with a minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience with CNC machining.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; 2 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience with CNC machining.
  • Computer literate with good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of database software; manufacturing software and word processing software.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to differentiate colors.

  • Prefer strong process improvement experience with cost reduction, continuous flow, assembly operations, and sheet metal operations.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, line balancing, relocating workstations and equipment and purchase of equipment.
  • Recommend Manufacturing Process Improvement opportunities for plant operations including the best uses of automation to improve the business.
  • Design and implement processes and measures to improve workplace safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Control and sustain process designs to ensure sustainable and reliable results pertaining to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost/Value.
  • Lead improvement teams to develop and implement manufacturing/business process improvements.
  • Develop effective problem resolution plans using logical root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Create value stream mapping documentation for assembly plant operations.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing process FMEA’s to prioritize corrective actions and ensure a robust process.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing procedures to ensure consistent execution of operational tasks.
  • Establish and maintain standard work instructions to ensure consistent execution of workforce labor tasks.
  • Establish time studies and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Develop capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve safety, quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Analyze work force utilization, facility layout and operational data including production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
