About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance position is responsible for safely performing inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds on plant and quarry equipment to support reliable and efficient operations. This role plays a critical part in maximizing equipment uptime, maintaining production goals, and supporting continuous improvement efforts in a heavy industrial environment.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality; to include flexibility in working shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, on‑call and during plant outages.
  • Perform maintenance work in plant and quarry environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, bending, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, sitting and reaching.
  • Access all areas of the site, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 120 feet, entering confined spaces and accessing tunnels.
  • Work safely around high temperature kiln systems, moving equipment, conveyors, and mobile equipment.
  • Work in environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, oils, and lime/mineral particles.
  • Use hands and tools for precision mechanical work and equipment repair.
  • Ability to see, hear, communicate, and maintain situational awareness in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull a maximum force of 50 pounds of force.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial environment.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing, mining, or industrial environments.
  • Experience with welding, equipment alignment, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced technical training or certification in industrial maintenance.
  • Prior experience working around kilns, conveyors, or heavy equipment.
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., MS Office, SAP or similar systems).

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company, MSHA, and regulatory safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Conduct and document workplace inspections and report unsafe conditions.
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero energy state prior to performing maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, and rebuild crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and align mechanical components including bearings, belts, chains, and rotating equipment.
  • Install and support pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform basic welding, torch cutting, and acetylene work as needed to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives to improve equipment uptime and maintenance efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and environmental systems.
  • Utilize precision tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators) to support accurate diagnostics and repairs.
  • Install and align new equipment using proper mechanical techniques and tools.
  • Perform shaft alignments and equipment setup with precision alignment tools.
  • Support rigging and lifting activities during installation and maintenance.
  • Complete work orders, inspections, and maintenance reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in work order initiation and planning processes.
  • Ensure proper use and tracking of inventory parts and materials.
  • Maintain assigned tools and ensure proper use of company-provided specialty tools and equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and tools while proactively identifying and addressing maintenance, safety, and housekeeping needs.
  • Operate mobile equipment as required to support maintenance activities.
  • Support plant outages and assist with major repairs or projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
