The location in Calhoun, Tenessee is seeking talent to fill the position of Mechanical Maintenance Technician. This job is an hourly position. Domtar Calhoun mill, founded in 1954, is a leading producer of towel and tissue products for some of the largest retailers in the United States. With the recent expansion of its tissue operation at the Calhoun facility, along with additional manufacturing and converting facilities in Florida and Maryland, Domtar, formerly Resolute, has created a competitive integrated tissue business that serves the North American market. In 2018, the company invested $20 million to build a new distribution center, further enhancing its capabilities and commitment to meeting the needs of its customers. Our Calhoun location (Tennessee) is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Mechanical Maintenance Technician. You will be responsible to provide safe operation of your assigned mill equipment to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing unscheduled downtime.

Requirements

  • A journey-level Millwright/Machine Repairer and must be qualified to, and will be required to demonstrate, proficiency in all the following:
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains on all types of gears, bearings and seals and the application of each.
  • Sets and aligns such equipment as (but not limited to) pumps, gearboxes, etc. Skilled in the use of mechanical, electrical, and optical instruments used to perform the various alignment requirements.
  • Reads and makes material takeoffs from blueprints, performs layout work as required. Use sketches and blueprints for field work. Understands and utilizes the computer to order parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Experienced in the utilization of various types of lifting, pulling, and carrying devices such as, but not limited to, cranes (fixed and mobile), chain falls, come-a-longs, pull lifts, etc. and experienced in performing the necessary rigging to perform the lifting, pulling, carrying, etc.
  • Rebuilds: Pumps, Reducers, Air Compressors, Screens, Conveyors, Air Foils, Gearboxes, etc.
  • Installs and connects various types of piping.
  • Perform the replacement, alignment, and tension adjustment of all types of drive belts associated with the operation of Company equipment.
  • Must have the capability of using various types of measuring instruments, necessary to perform and check the work. Must have a working knowledge of the principles and troubleshooting techniques of hydraulic systems and pumps.
  • Uses various welding and burning techniques.
  • Uses lubricant grading system,
  • Possess a good working knowledge of Millwriting, Machining, Welding and/or Pipefitting.
  • Work rotating shifts (after 1 year of service) or M-F day-shift hours along with overtime and/or weekends as needed
