About The Position

CoolIT Systems, Inc. is hiring a full time Mechanical Laboratory Technician to assist in everyday activities of CoolIT's Liquid Lab. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to assembling prototypes and fixtures for pre-compliance and compliance testing, actively participating on all stages when it comes to in-house built hydronic equipment, maintenance and repairs for large equipment (chillers, colling towers, thermal chambers, etc), supporting other activities around the lab while maintaining company safety and quality expectations. Reporting to the Liquid Lab Team Lead, this is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes ownership, is a team player, looks for interesting custom projects and wants to contribute to the future of scalable computer cooling solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in prototyping, plumbing, hydronics, HVAC/Refrigeration or machining.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with a proven ability to think creatively and tackle complex, unconventional challenges.
  • Skilled at identifying and implementing quick, effective, and cost-efficient solutions in dynamic environments.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and professional development.
  • Thrives in fast-paced technology environments with evolving priorities and changing requirements.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and collaborative team spirit.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lab, R&D, or light manufacturing/assembly environments.
  • Reach truck and sit down forklift certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototypes using off the shelf, pre-designed and custom-made parts based on the engineer’s specifications. This can include sketch-level design, building or locally sourcing custom parts on-the-go to meet prototype assembling deadlines and functionality levels.
  • Prepare prototypes for testing incl. disassembling, assembling, wiring, filling with coolant, etc.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for in-house built equipment on the design and component selection stage, sourcing major components, assembling, testing and startup.
  • Maintain large infrastructure equipment including but not limited to: chillers, colling towers, thermal chambers, etc.
  • Support other activities around the lab when needed.
  • Maintain safe work practices by adhering to company safety policies.
