About The Position

This role is responsible for the design and development of new and/or derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities for new, custom, and in-service aircraft. The engineer will design installations, perform weight and center of gravity analysis, and create drawings and models using CATIA V5 interconnected with SmarTeam. This position requires collaboration with various departments and external suppliers, as well as ensuring designs meet manufacturing, quality, and schedule requirements. The engineer will make technical decisions, provide recommendations, and independently optimize product, cost, and schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years in specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.
  • Experience with Custom Cabinetry (galleys, lavatories, vanities, closets, storage compartments).
  • Experience with Interior peripheries (cabin liners, window panels, passenger service units (PSUs), dado panels, and side ledges).
  • Experience with Miscellaneous (water/waste systems, oxygen systems, seating).
  • Design and build models and prints demonstrating a complete understanding of construction methodologies required for component parts and assemblies to an end item level.
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of the product development process from concept to production and through sustaining.
  • Design installations for commodities along with necessary airframe modifications to meet load requirements.
  • Competency with Weight and Center of Gravity Analysis.
  • Experience with Part 25 aircraft.
  • Familiarity with Part 135 requirements.
  • Engineering design work includes the creation of drawings/models using either CATIA V5 interconnected with SmarTeam.

  • Experience with Primary and Secondary structures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assembly/installation, similarity, mounting, and functionality analysis.
  • Employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods.
  • Make technical decisions and provide recommendations.
  • Independently determine improved methods to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements.
