This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of technicians, you will be responsible for facility operation, maintenance and test article integration for various systems within the Advanced Engines program. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the Advance Engines program in support of text complex builds and operation schedules.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in facility construction and facility/test article testing.
  • 2 year vocational degree with related mechanical curriculum or construction/maintenance or Military training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Test and safety critical hardware
  • Standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment
  • Experience with low and high pressure pneumatic systems, propellant loading and off-loading systems
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. work in adverse weather conditions and climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years’ experience in construction of facilities test and related systems or Maintenance, Integration and Test.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants and test facility cryogenic support systems, including Liquid Hydrogen, Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen, and Liquid Natural gas.
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred)
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, proof & test) and pressurized system safety
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around test critical hardware
  • MIG/TIG, orbital welding experience a plus
  • Ability to recommend Methods and Solutions to help develop effective maintenance, integration and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Test facility construction, operation and maintenance
  • Fabrication (tube bending) and routing of pressurization and propellant tubing
  • Installation and checkout of wire harnesses and instrumentation
  • Test article integration and system test checkout
  • Reviewing, editing and following test procedures
  • Operation of test facility
  • General trouble shooting of instrumentation, valves, leaks, etc.
  • Working with engineers on design concepts/improvements and test development
  • Planning and communicating assembly steps for complex mechanical installations
  • Providing design feedback on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and test article(s)
  • Safely working with hazardous chemicals and high pressure systems
  • Understanding of 5S and FOD control disciplines
