About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the development, construction, operation and maintenance of liquid rocket engine test facilities for various spaceflight systems. This position will directly influence the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in rocket engine or jet engine testing, or rocket engine test facility support
  • Ability to work with test and flight safety critical hardware
  • Ability to work with standard mechanical tools and shop fabrication equipment
  • Experience with pneumatic and propellant systems
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.; work in adverse weather conditions; climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years’ experience in propulsion facility/system or launch vehicle operation, integration or maintenance
  • Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants, including Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Hydrogen, and other cryogenics
  • Familiar with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware

Responsibilities

  • Test facility construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Fabrication and routing of pressurization and propellant tubing
  • Test article integration and checkout
  • General troubleshooting of fluid components and fluid systems
  • General maintenance of mechanical components and systems
  • Propellant offloading
  • Reviewing, editing, and following test procedures and processes
  • Operation of test facility and ground support equipment
  • Working with engineers on design concepts and facility improvements
  • Planning and executing assembly for complex mechanical systems
  • Safely working with hazardous chemicals and high pressure systems
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements to promote workplace safety
