About The Position

SGS is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to support a major TC Energy project in British Columbia. The Mechanical Inspector will act as the Company's authorized representative, overseeing mechanical construction activities and monitoring contractor and vendor performance related to turbo machinery installations. This includes gas generators, power turbines, gas compressors, exhaust systems, fuel gas skids, and associated rotating equipment.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Millwright certification.
  • Experience with Baker Hughes Gas Turbine equipment.
  • Experience inspecting or overseeing rotating equipment installations.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical QA/QC processes and inspection documentation.
  • Experience reviewing quality plans, ITPs, and vendor quality records.
  • Knowledge of industry construction, quality, and safety procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of mechanical inspection, QA/QC, or rotating equipment inspection experience.
  • 5+ years of oil & gas, pipeline, compressor station, or industrial facility experience.
  • Experience with turbine alignment, grouting, pipe strain verification, and oil flushing.
  • Experience with OEM equipment such as Baker Hughes, Solar Turbines, Siemens Energy, or MAN Energy Solutions.
  • Previous TC Energy project experience.
  • Knowledge of TC Energy processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor installation of gas generators, power turbines, gas compressors, fuel gas skids, air intake systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Review contractor quality control plans, ITPs, inspection reports, and construction documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Review vendor quality check sheets and installation records.
  • Monitor equipment alignment, pipe strain, soft foot verification, and grouting activities.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, field-level hazard assessments, system walkdowns, and turnover activities.
  • Support oil flushing activities and verify compliance with OEM requirements.
  • Complete daily inspection reports and maintain project documentation.
  • Identify and escalate quality concerns, deficiencies, and NCRs.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or quality concerns are identified.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities as required.
