Hill International is seeking a Mechanical Inspector in Los Angeles, California. This role involves inspecting the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, and agreements for work. The inspector will conduct comprehensive daily inspections of mechanical and plumbing systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications. This includes reviewing and interpreting construction documents such as blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. A key responsibility is preparing detailed daily inspection reports that document all observed construction activities, tracking progress, and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner. The inspector will verify contractor compliance with local and national mechanical and plumbing codes, and LAWA-specific standards, track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities, and assist in validating contractor progress payment requests. Support for special inspections and testing activities, including coordination with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies, is also required. Specific inspections include domestic water and sewage systems, venting, fire sprinklers, gas piping, HVAC systems, smoke control systems, mechanical ventilation and exhaust, fire and life safety integration, mechanical and plumbing shutdowns, commissioning and balancing reports, underground utilities, and fire life safety systems.
