About The Position

This role will support the Machine Shop by inspecting semi-completed parts, working with machinists, and identifying if their setup needs to be corrected. The Mechanical Inspector will identify problems with workmanship or process damage and ensure the quality of produced assemblies through physical and visual inspection to verify characteristics against predetermined specifications, drawings, or standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing environment required that includes high customer service experience.
  • Experience in Mechanical inspection and in First Article Inspection.
  • Proficiently interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models that utilize GD&T to understand design intent and define inspection requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competence to perform inspections using surface plates, calipers, thread gages, scales, micro-hite.
  • General PC skills, including Word, Excel and Oracle.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and part specifications.
  • Accurate color vision and depth perception.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, including interfacing with Order Management, Internal Quality Engineers, Customers and other Internal Management personnel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMM inspection is ideal.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards.
  • Familiar with AS9102 First Article Requirements.
  • Experience with CMM.
  • Electrical inspection.
  • IPC-610.

Responsibilities

  • Works from blueprints, customer drawings, engineering change notices, military standards, and established operating procedures to determine acceptance, rejection or rework requirements of assembled units or supplier components.
  • Conducts visual inspections with a high level of accuracy to verify physical properties.
  • Ensures the build and test manufacturing process has been completed.
  • Proactively communicates errors and systemic trends to the quality organization.
  • Enters data into software tools.
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management.
