In this role, you’ll get out in the field and play a hands-on part in keeping our community safe by inspecting buildings during construction and repairs, ensuring everything meets approved plans and building codes. You’ll also document your inspections using our Accela system, helping keep projects moving smoothly and efficiently. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with Microsoft Office, eager to learn systems like Accela and Workday, and confident in interpreting codes and regulations. A positive, solutions-focused approach and strong communication skills will set you up for success. Relevant DBPR licenses are a plus. Starting pay ranges from $28.34 - $31.00 for Inspector I and $31.16 - $34.83 for Inspector II. Apply today and be part of work that truly makes an impact! About the Position In this role, you will... Inspect buildings during construction, renovation, and repairs to ensure compliance with approved plans and building codes. Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy and code compliance. Identify and document code violations, issuing notices as needed within licensed areas. Accurately enter inspection results and maintain records in the Accela database. Prepare reports, worksheets, and daily activity summaries to track work and findings. Research files and databases to support inspections and reporting. Deliver excellent customer service by assisting the public with questions about building codes, regulations, and processes. Collaborate effectively with team members and support County operations, including during declared emergencies. About the Schedule Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 07:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
