About The Position

Ramboll is seeking motivated and inquisitive candidates to join the Solutions for Industry group in their Binghamton, NY office as a Mechanical and HVAC designer. The candidate will work across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas with a focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing. The role involves working with engineers to develop HVAC and plumbing designs using Revit, coordinating with other disciplines, developing conceptual designs and cost estimates, creating design drawings, designing plumbing and building utility piping systems, and visiting job sites. The position requires adherence to Ramboll's Project Execution Manual and promoting a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or greater.
  • Experience with HVAC and Industrial duct layout.
  • Knowledge of SMACNA duct construction standards.
  • Knowledge of the International Plumbing code and its requirements for plumbing design.
  • Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills, (both in written and verbal).
  • Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, with a majority related to heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing.
  • Expecting work in industrial piping, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit design software.
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Visiting job sites as required to support the design effort (mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips expected).
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
