Mechanical Field Technician
About The Position
OWL Services is searching for highly motivated people interested in being taught a trade in the Underground Storage Tank (UST) compliance testing industry. Eventually working toward advancement within the company to become a foreman and managing a work crew. Our Compliance Field Technicians perform a variety of environmental compliance and testing services for the gasoline service station industry. This is a hands-on field position that combines mechanical work, troubleshooting, testing, and technology. No two days are the same, and technicians work both independently and as part of a team to help customers maintain regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools.
- Experience in construction, automotive, maintenance, industrial, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fuel systems, military, or other skilled trades is highly preferred.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding, hands-on work in outdoor environments. This position involves getting dirty while working around underground storage tank systems and fuel equipment.
- Basic technology skills, including the ability to use a tablet, smartphone, and computer for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with customers and team members.
- Ability to lift 10–50 lbs. and frequently kneel, bend, reach, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to pass a company-paid DOT physical and drug screen and maintain a clean driving record.

- Knowledge of applicable safety practices and regulatory requirements is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Preparing sites for testing and inspection activities
- Setting up testing equipment and safety equipment
- Removing manhole lids to access underground storage tanks
- Performing precision testing, inspections, calibrations, and certifications
- Operating, troubleshooting, and calibrating specialized testing equipment
- Completing required documentation using tablets and other mobile technology
- Driving a DOT-registered commercial motor vehicle to customer locations
- Working safely while following all company and regulatory procedures
