About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer to support the ULTC program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane, Indiana. The role involves supporting engineering tasks, development, design, and testing of support equipment and systems. The selected candidate will be part of the engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training.
  • 1-5 years of related experience in the field of specialty.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad perspective.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret US Government Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements.
  • Write test planning documents, schedule program activities, and plan and conduct test missions.
  • Utilize support equipment for verification and validation of requirements, hardware troubleshooting, and technology transfer considerations for loading and removing assets and launch vehicles.
  • Serve as a direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels, from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to ensure compliance with requirements and specifications.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of design specifications to more complex systems/projects.
  • Provide transition support and document verification/validation of system milestones.
  • Participate in the mobilization, demobilization, and execution of installation and checkout of systems and support equipment at test sites.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise and troubleshooting support for all Post Shipyard Availability Dock and Seatrial support.
  • Operate equipment and provide on-the-job training for USN personnel and support personnel.
  • Inform support equipment maintenance and identify additional support equipment needs or modifications.
  • Support system and subsystem testing, including travel to test sites as required.
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
