About The Position

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will make an impact by driving product quality, performance, and reliability through executing engine, component, system, and controls testing. You will generate data-driven insights and recommendations by configuring data acquisition systems, analyzing test results, developing analysis tools, and translating findings into actionable engineering decisions. You will lead comprehensive test execution activities by designing test plans, configuring test programs, conducting testing, documenting results, and delivering clear conclusions and recommendations. You will diagnose and resolve technical challenges by identifying root causes of engine, component, system, control, and test cell issues and implementing effective corrective actions to keep projects moving forward. You will support product development through hands-on technical expertise by building, instrumenting, inspecting, measuring, modifying, and validating engines and components throughout the testing lifecycle. You will improve operational efficiency and engineering processes by leading continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining quality procedures, participating in audits, and implementing best practices that enhance testing effectiveness. You will strengthen cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing by working closely with engineers, suppliers, customers, technicians, and apprentices to align priorities, solve problems, and develop team capability. You will ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality test operations by adhering to safety standards, protecting confidential information, coordinating testing activities, and maintaining accurate documentation that supports successful project outcomes.
