About The Position

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineering Technical Support Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Disassembles and rebuilds production and experimental engines and components, measures and records measurements. Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness. Installs engines and components in test cells or test rigs. Fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings. Diagnoses engine and test cell problems. Configures and operates engines or rigs, measuring and recording data as requested, and performs preventative maintenance on engines, test cells or test rigs. Executes written work requests and reports on results in a specified format. Supports technicians and engineers as required. Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions. Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures. Participates in improvement projects. Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers. Maintains cleanliness within the workplace. Knows and complies with departmental safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates confidentiality as required. Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action. Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering background
  • Ability to disassemble and rebuild engines and components
  • Proficiency in measuring and recording data
  • Experience configuring and operating data acquisition systems
  • Ability to analyze and review data
  • Experience installing engines and components in test cells or test rigs
  • Skill in fabricating piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings
  • Ability to diagnose engine and test cell problems
  • Experience configuring and operating engines or rigs
