About The Position

The Assistant Professor is expected to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses, advise students, and provide service to the university in the CSU / Adams State University Mechanical Engineering Program (resident in Alamosa, Colorado). The role will demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s mission through teaching and service.

Requirements

Completed MS (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date.
Four years of industry engineering experience or four years of experience teaching undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses (or similar).
Excellent management, communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
Pre-employment background check.
Legally authorized to work in the US by the proposed start date.

Nice To Haves

Completed PhD (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date.
Teaching or work experience in Thermo Fluids, Mechatronics, and Computational Methods.
Experience teaching the specific courses listed in the Job Description Summary in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) program.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Teach three 3-credit undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses per semester.
Communicate with and grade students in a timely, equitable, and professional manner.
Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community in support of CSU’s mission.
Regularly assess courses and incorporate appropriate improvements.
Abide by all University faculty requirements and responsibilities.
Supervise graduate and / or undergraduate teaching assistants.
