About The Position

The Assistant Professor is expected to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses, advise students, and provide service to the university in the CSU / Adams State University Mechanical Engineering Program (resident in Alamosa, Colorado). The role will demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s mission through teaching and service.

Requirements

  • Completed MS (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date.
  • Four years of industry engineering experience or four years of experience teaching undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses (or similar).
  • Excellent management, communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
  • Pre-employment background check.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US by the proposed start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed PhD (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date.
  • Teaching or work experience in Thermo Fluids, Mechatronics, and Computational Methods.
  • Experience teaching the specific courses listed in the Job Description Summary in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) program.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Teach three 3-credit undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses per semester.
  • Communicate with and grade students in a timely, equitable, and professional manner.
  • Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community in support of CSU’s mission.
  • Regularly assess courses and incorporate appropriate improvements.
  • Abide by all University faculty requirements and responsibilities.
  • Supervise graduate and / or undergraduate teaching assistants.
