About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Manager provides leadership and direction for the mechanical engineering department. The role combines hands-on technical and project leadership with tactical flexibility in support of strategic goals. The manager oversees staff hiring, training, workflow, schedules, performance evaluations, and employee discipline in accordance with company policy. The position supports mechanical engineering work for customized power distribution and protection systems, including relay and control panels, medium-voltage switchgear, and enclosures such as power/control buildings and E-Houses. The manager leads customer technical communications, assigns staff to projects, supports project delivery, estimates engineering labor and schedules for proposals, and oversees designs for reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule. The manager also defines design inputs and specifications, promotes current design tools and practices, verifies designs, troubleshoots issues, and documents or oversees corrective actions. The manager may serve directly as Project Engineer on certain projects. Flex plans to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into an independent publicly traded company, Axiom, with the spin planned for Q1 2027. If the spin occurs, this role will support Axiom, which focuses on critical digital infrastructure and end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
