Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, Utah. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities: supporting SDS programs as an engineer within the same function and will act across multiple organizations to drive execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) disciplines from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 6 Years of experience of mechanical engineering development for aircraft/aerospace programs; including requirements generation, conceptual/detail design, design reviews, and/or testing
  • Experience with requirements analysis, trade studies, SERD generation, design solutions, acquisition, test, and validation
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

Nice To Haves

  • Must be an expert with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • 1+ years' experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM
  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009
  • Experience working with specialty engineering stakeholders (PM&P, Safety, Human Factors, others)
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
  • Possess an EVMS Certification
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, and measuring
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written; and ability to read and understand technical requirements documents
