About The Position

Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit. Role Overview This role will support hardware development for June-August 2026. You’ll be part of the Prototyping team, responsible for development, assembly, and testing parts used in our humanoid robots. This is a hands-on, in-person role based in Palo Alto. For the right candidate, this internship may lead to a full-time offer.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering
  • Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.)
  • Comfortable doing physical work,, setup, assembly, post-processing
  • Able to work on-site in Palo Alto
  • Currently studying engineering or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Worked on robotics, mechatronics, or general hardware projects

Responsibilities

  • 3D-print and assemble prototypes
  • Create models in multiple materials
  • Conduct durability testing
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to integrate new parts and resolve fit-and-function issues
  • Contribute to the design and engineering of the next robot revision - your work is production-critical, not a side project
  • Create and edit CAD models for printing or milling
  • Document print settings, results, and workflows
  • Maintain print lab organization and inventory
