This internship offers hands-on experience in manufacturing, mechanical systems, and continuous improvement within a shop operations environment, focusing on industrial turbocharger systems. Interns will contribute to shop organization (5S), assist with turbocharger rebuild processes, and work alongside experienced technicians and engineers to improve safety, efficiency, and workflow.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field
  • Strong interest in hands-on, mechanical work
  • Ability to work in shop environment
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and initiative
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a team setting

Responsibilities

  • Conduct shop audit and implement 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Establish tool organization systems and permanent storage locations
  • Label inventory, toolboxes, and work areas
  • Support epoxy flooring and shop layout improvements
  • Organize storage areas and digitize tool inventory
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards
  • Complete initial safety training and CPR/First Aid certification
  • Assist with disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly support
  • Shadow technicians and learn rebuild processes
  • Support workflow, tooling, and layout improvements
  • Continue shop organization and cleanliness initiatives
  • Complete additional technical and safety training
  • Follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, rigging, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Support shop efficiency, organization, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace
  • Assist technicians and engineers with mechanical and service tasks
  • Participate in hands-on shop work
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements
